Hold on to your butts..

Day 10

Leaving Bozeman the only thing I wanted was McDonald’s. Just some days you want an Egg McMuffin. Walmart was there so I decided to buy a dash cam. This way I would not be so bad of always wanting to hold the phone up when I drove. I was heading for Yellowstone. I lucked out and was able to get a cabin at Old Faithful. I’m faithful that I did. I highly recommend staying on property as some would say when visiting nature’s theme park.

Taking the Beartooth Highway. It was freaking awesome. Up and over, up and over. You could see the mountains in the distance, snow? I’m glad I have the dash cam. There was snow in the forecast and as I got over 10k, people were skiing. I know, it’s June.

Once you come down Beartooth Pass it’s into Cooke City and Silver Gate. Little last stops before you see the park. I stopped and took the selfie at the sign. “I’ll start posting pics soon, so so many!”

The Ranger at the entry gate was awesome. Gave me some suggestions since no one else was around waiting. She also took my receipt from Devils Tower and credited me the difference into a year pass to all the national parks and other fee locations. Guess you could say I’m now a card carrying member. First stop was Mammoth Hot Springs. The drive from the gate I passed just oh everything. Bison, bears, nature.

The best way I can describe this, watch Jurassic Park. Not, the people eating or gift shop scenes, hey look there is a Margaritaville. The scenes when they are just mouth open stares at what they are seeing. That’s the feeling. There is a bison walking down the road, a bear was waking along the ridge. Flowers, bright yellow and blue. Hills, mountains, rivers and streams.

Mammoth Hot Springs is the location for the main offices of the park. The old Fort Yellowstone when it was a army station as well and it looks as it is, that design of the 20’s and 30’s. Can we say that now, the 1920’s and 30’s. I grabbed a birthday gift and write postcards. The weather broke, it had been overcast and rain. Now the sun was starting to peek out. Still cool but nice. I walked around the hot springs and took more and more pictures.

From there it was time to get to Old Faithful. She’s been waiting. It was nice not have any cell service. I was able to finish 3 audio books. BTW, I need some suggestions for the next few. Amy Schumer was my travel guide in the park. Her story of life and making it as a comic was something we can all relate. The ups and downs and hustle of life.

I checked into my cabin which was glamping btw. I do suggest those if you can. I also look forward to the day of baller status and staying at either one of the two inns. She was blowing her top as I approached. Got settled in my room, poured a strong drink and went for a walk. You need to see it. Take the time and just do it. Go somewhere where you can say, yep I saw that.

Here comes a bison, just walking down the sidewalk in the middle of the main visitor section, just doing his thing, so you know me, selfie.

I grabbed dinner from the restaurant. It was a Back at the cabin, oh another bison just hanging out walking along the creek. Don’t mind me and I won’t mind you. I took a long walk around all the geysers. It was just me, a few others and twilight.
