Where do I begin? Feels like I’ve been saying the same thing over and over again since Aug 1. We need federal unemployment extensions and stop jerking us around. This is somewhat of a rant.
Okay, both sides of the aisle can say, we tried to pass a bill, the other side would not agree. Get off your high-horse and do what’s right! Oh wait, we’re asking politicians to do what’s right. What has happened since August?
Back in May, the House passed an act which the Senate would not hear. Then the President reached into FEMA funds and dished our $300 a week which we received around $1800. The State of NC upped their $350 a week payment to $400 (which we still haven’t received the additional $50).
The states were to also kick in $100 a week and I believe NC owes us $600. The Senate takes up a bill which gets shot down because the Democratic’s say doesn’t do enough. So we are stuck.
Now, more people are being laid off, furloughed and asked to take salary deductions. I have so many friends who need help. I need your help. I don’t need monetary as of now. I’m thankful for savings and being somewhat thrifty. So what do we need is from you? We need you to tell others what is going on. Contact your rep, reach out to a friend, tell them you are thinking about them. Do your part, wear a mask and be thankful.
I’m typing this as I wait in line to pay my respects to RBG. I thought about coming here earlier this week. I’ve never been to Washington while someone was lying in repose. I felt that this was something that needed to be done.
2020 has sucked a big fat one. We have lost so many good people including the Justice. Sometimes we just need someone who will do what’s right and she was that person. You might not agree with everything and that’s ok.
