Pack Badger

Day 5

It was time, west. I said my so longs to Evan and Lauren. Google said about the same time to go through Madison, couple hours here or there. That’s the joy of this trip, if you want to turn left, turn left. The drive was nice up over Indy, around Chicago and into Wisconsin.

A friend sent an email, hey check out for some beer. Thankfully it was in good supply at the 7-Eleven in Madison. Checked in at the AC hotel downtown. When you can find a deal, treat yo self.

I forgot how cool Madison was. I had only visited once before. Downtown is so walkable, the capital right there in the middle of town, the square streets and diagonal spurs. I was heading to State St Brats. I was not leaving without some cheese curds and brats.

With everything going on in the world, State St had turned from protests and crowds, to one giant mural. All the boarded up shops and restaurants became a artist paradise. Blocks was reserved for artist and groups to paint, express and release their feelings! People was walking up and down the 6-9 blocks. Talking, engaging and learning. It was amazing to watch some of the artist paint on plain sheets of plywood. I was glad when I FaceTimed with the besties, they could experience it too.

State Street Brats, great college bar. I had a red, cheddar brats and some cheese curds. You have to have the right mix of bread and brat. Krat and some mustard for me! Plain is fine but it takes it over the top.

Walked to campus, it’s at the end of State St. Time for sunset. The lake comes up to campus. It was nice to sit back, talk to my three besties and watch the sunset. Yes, my Coke Zero was half bourbon!! Lol.

Off to South Dakota. Minnesota is in my way!!
